Construction work on a future Fenway Center is about to start soon.

Fenway Center Carlos Zapata StudioGood news for Fenway Center development project.

Recently during March court hearings, the zoning challenge for the Fenway Center complex has been removed, thus construction work on a $450 million mixed-use project will start very soon.

Fenway Center development is a 5 building complex of residential, retail, parking, and office spaces. According to plans of a local developer, John Rosenthal, president of Meredith Management Corp., this mixed-use complex will replace surface parking lots between Beacon Street and Brookline Avenue bridges. Fenway Center will deliver additional 500 residential units, over 1,200 parking spaces, 170,000 sq ft of office space, about 90,000 sq ft of retail space, lots of so much needed parks and green spaces, as well as bike storage and community space.

There will also be a new Yawkey Commuter Rail Station in the area directly adjacent to Fenway Center's retail space. Yawkey MBTA station will be the first "zero net energy" station in Boston that will be operated by solar panels that can generate up to 650 killowatts and supply the entire station with electricity.

This  project will certainly have a good impact on the neighborhood: opening more stores and offices, creating greenways and parks for pedestrians, and improving public safety by increasing number of residents and tenants, as well as neighborhood stores. Construction is expected to start in Spring 2013.
